Stupidest question I got asked today:
"Do you know if Tanzania (pronounced tan-zanier) is overseas?"

Way back when I was in travel I had a client who was furious regardless of all attempts to explain that I wanted to send him to the United States instead of America. Then he was mad that I tried suggesting New York or LA instead of America. I just clearly didnt listen to him... o___o

Yes they are stupid, however, my Nana used to live in Tanzania, teaching at a poor village for World Vision or somesuch. Anyways, she told me that the perferred way of saying it over there, from native Tanzanierians, was to have Tanzania be said to rhyme with Ham Narnia.

It was the pronunciation of the person asking, not mine, that I was providing.

Yeah, I know. I'm just saying, that the preferred pronunciation doesn't sound like Tasmania.

Ah the stupidity of the General public. This week here in Adelaide we're specialising in questions that are really statements and usually barely disguised personal rants. (I love my job.)
